INRODUCTION TO DESSERT SHOOTERS
We have had a special request for some Dessert Shooters and, as promised, I will try and honor every request. In doing my research I discovered that this craze is sweeping the Country (and who knows where else). Not only are these tiny desserts made in shot glasses delicious, they can be very good if you're on a diet. A chocolate dessert shooter can satisfy any sweet tooth for a fraction of calories of a full sized dessert. Or, you can indulge in 2 or 3 different desserts, and still not feel guilty!
The Shooters are best served in mass so, for the prettiest and most impressive display, prepare at least two per person and mix it up. One of the best things about dessert shooters is that you can get very creative and come up with your own recipes. Unlike appetizer shooters, you rarely drink these, unless they're milk shake shooters. Hmm..
One thing I find absolutely necessary is that the glasses and dessert spoons be 100% disposable. So I am going to give you some ideas about where to get them. I prefer Party City, because of the pretty shapes and colors, but from www.squidoo.com here are some other ideas:

And to make sure to get every single drop of your dessert shooter you will need these
long handled spoons
You cant go wrong with this one. Omit the alcohol if you are making it for kids.
•1 Brownie cut into small squares about 1/2 inch each
•4 T chocolate ice cream or mousse
•1 t caramel sauce
•Mint leaf for garnish
•A 2-3 ounce shot glass
Place 3 or 4 brownie pieces in the bottom of the dessert shooter glass.
Add 2 T of ice cream on top - note: you can use any flavor of ice cream you prefer but keep it simple. Vanilla or chocolate work best.
Drizzle with 1/2 t of caramel sauce.
Repeat the brownie and ice cream layers. Add a dab of whipped cream and drizzle with 1 t caramel sauce. Add the mint leaf to the top (sub in a cherry if you prefer). For adults, drizzle with any type of liquor
Key Lime Pie Shooter
•3 large egg yolks
•1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
•1/2 c. Key LIme Juice
•1 T melted butter
Add the sweetened condensed milk into a medium sized saucepan. With a whisk, mix in the egg yolks until well blended. Place over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture boils.
Mix in the lime juice and butter until well blended. Pour into a glass bowl and refrigerate for at least an hour or until set up.
Note: if you're a cheater (and, remember, cheaters never prosper but they do save a lot of time), mix up the filling with Jello's Key Lime pudding. It's delicious and, with a squirt of extra lime juice, it will be more tart too.
Banana Pudding Shooter
Grab a ripe banana and cut in small slices. Cut each slice in quarters. Grab some vanilla pudding - I prefer the pudding that you mix up yourself on the stove but, for ease, you can use the prepared vanilla pudding. Place a bit of banana in the bottom of a shot glass, add a small amount of pudding, add a layer of crushed vanilla wafers, and repeat. If you're serving adults, top your banana pudding dessert shooter with a splash of dark rum for a savory topping to a delicious dessert. (personally, I'm not that into layering, so I would put the banana pudding in first, then whipped chream (or cool whip), then crumble the vanilla wafters on the top!

The Banana Pudding above counts as # !
Lighten up creamsicle ice cream by layering it into a dessert shooter glass along with layers of fluffy, sweetened whip cream. Add a vanilla sugar wafer to the top - just right for scooping out your vanilla creamsicle dessert shooter!
Vanilla Butterscotch Sundae Dessert Shooter
This delicious dessert is a bit rich so making it in a shot glass is a good thing. Crush vanilla wafers and place in the bottom of the shot glass. Add in a bit of butterscotch sauce and then vanilla bean ice cream. Add another layer on top and top the whole dessert shooter with chopped peanuts and a cherry. If serving adults, top off with a splash of Buttershot schnapps.
Vanilla Berry Delight
This dessert shooter is just berry berry delicious (sorry, couldn't refuse). Get some ripe raspberries, blueberries, or blackberries and place a few in the bottom of the shooter glass. Add in a layer of that vanilla pudding you made earlier. If serving to adults, add a splash of chamborg between layers. Do another layer and top with a bit of fresh whipped cream and a mint leaf for garnish.
White Chocolate Chip and Graham Cracker Truffle
Melt white chocolate chips in the microwave for 30 seconds and stir (white chocolate chips won't melt down in the microwave so appear whole even when melted). Microwave longer if needed to melt. Place some crumbled graham cracker in the bottom of the shot glass. Pour a bit of the melted chips on top and add a dash of cinnamon. Add a bit of ice cream or pudding and repeat the layers. Top with more melted white chocolate and a cinnamon stick for garnish.
