Ok, time for some fish, and London Lennies is the place to go for fish in Queens. Owned and operated by the Barnes Family since 1959, London Lennie’s has evolved from a quintessential fish-n’-chips shop to the premier seafood restaurant in Queens. Celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year, London Lennie’s is known for its fresh, local seafood selected daily at the world-famous Fulton Fish Market. A major plus at a seafood restaurant where you don't want old fish.
They have a lobster menu which includes lobsters from 1 1/4 lbs to over 4 lbs, prepared any way you want. Their specials include soft shell crabs, oven roasted whole bronzini, Canadian halibut and lobster & lotte (baked in a cream sauce and puff pastry). My favorite.
That is only the beginning of what kind of seafood you can have there and how they will prepare it. But, for you land lovers out there, you can get a well-prepared steak, (rib-eye or filet mignon, roasted chicken, steak chimmichuri or a burger.
This is the place you want to be for seafood in Queens. And if you would like a hint, order everything off the appetizer menu! The chowders and dumplings are unbelievable, the raw bar is cold and fresh, and the fried calamari and fish tacos to die for. Go. You will love it.

London Lennies Shuck and Bake Oyster Stuffing Recipe


1lb cubed bread, including crust
1 pint fresh raw oysters
4-8 tablespoons of butter
1 cup finely chopped celery
2 cup of chopped onions
½ cup of minced fresh parsley
1 teaspoon minced oregano
I tablespoon minced sage
1 tablespoon minced thyme
¾ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
¼ freshly grated nutmeg
1 cup oyster juice from the freshly opened oysters (oyster broth)
2 eggs, well beaten (optional)

Preheat oven to 400F. Toast bread until golden brown on middle rack. Put bread pieces in bowl.
Meanwhile, heat butter until melted and foam subsides. Add onions and celery and cook until tender. (5mins) Remove from heat and stir in spices.
Add bread crumbs and drained oysters. Toss well until stuffing is moist (but not packed together) and stir in eggs (optional).
Stuff into the turkey while moist.
*If cooked in casserole dish place in 350F oven for 25-40minutes, or until heated through to form crust on the outsides

Catfish & mac n cheese at Red Light Fish & Chips

     Red Light Fish & Chips is not upscale but it been part of the East Elmhurst Community for many years as a Fish and Chips eatery and appears to be an exemplary testament to family cohesion and commitment to excellence and success.   Come by and taste for yourself. 

      Maybe if you have the kids and want a quick bite (certainly not a romantic dinner) you want to stop by the Red Light Fish & Chips.  Its  small, with minimal seating, good for take-out, but the food is reasonable and fresh.   If you go to a Fis and Chips place and don't want fish & chips (I don't know why) you can also order wraps and philly cheese-steak, which are reported to be very good.  But not the ones you can get in Philly!

      Here, the fried fish is tender, as are the fried clams and shrimp.  I'm not a big fan of fries, so you don't want my opinion on that.  I didn't think they were exceptional.
